The main scientific activity of the Academy includes cryptography as a whole, as an independent scientific direction, related fields of mathematics, electronics and computer technology, as well as related areas of information protection and information resources.

The scientific activity of the Academy is aimed at the development of domestic cryptography by conducting scientific research, as well as at facilitating their implementation in research organizations of the Russian Federation.

The main tasks in the field
of scientific activity of the Academy

1

Conducting fundamental and most important applied scientific research

2

Identification of priority areas for the development of cryptographic science

3

Creation of scientific prerequisites for the implementation of fundamentally new achievements of scientific and technological progress

Since the adoption of the national program "Digital Economy of the Russian Federation", the Academy has been actively involved in its implementation in terms of the use of cryptographic information protection methods in digital technologies.

Within the framework of the federal project "Information Security", the Academy carries out work on information and analytical ensuring and coordinating the participation of Russian experts in the activities of the main international organizations engaged in the development of international documents on standardization in the field of cryptography and security information technology. The solution of the tasks is carried out with the direct participation of the laboratory of standardization problems in this area, established at the Academy in 2019.

Since 2021, the Academy has also been involved in the implementation of the federal project "Artificial Intelligence". Based on promising case studies, work is underway to create a scientific base for modern secure technologies and artificial intelligence systems used in government information systems, and to develop draft requirements for ensuring information security in systems of this type.
