The Academy of Cryptography was established on June 5, 1992 in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation. The creation of the Academy of Cryptography was the official recognition of the Russian cryptographic scientific school.
To form the Academy of Cryptography of the Russian Federation for the development of fundamental and applied research in the most important areas of cryptography, information security, and special communications
From the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation
The Academy of Cryptography unites the country's leading scientists dealing with a wide range of information security issues. The main elements of the structure of the Academy of Cryptography are departments specializing in solving various classes of problems in the field of cryptography and information security. Currently, the Academy of Cryptography consists of four departments, as well as a Research center.
The fundamental principle of the organization of scientific research of the Academy is the concentration of efforts of scientists and specialists to develop scientific approaches to solving the most important problems in the field of cryptography and information security.
The importance of complex scientific research with the involvement of specialists in various fields of science and technology is significantly increasing. This is caused by the need to respond to new challenges in the field of cryptography and information security, which are associated, among other things, with the development of open cryptography, the introduction of new information and communication technologies and information protection mechanisms in all spheres of life. The applied forms of scientific research of the Academy of Cryptography make it possible to respond in a timely manner to the emergence of new problems in the field of cryptography and information security.
The development of cryptographic research methods would be impossible without a deep analysis of mathematical structures and processes modeling cryptographic transformations. In the works of the Academy of Cryptography, a number of complex mathematical problems of cryptography have been solved, significant scientific results have been obtained. A number of them are recognized in the world as achievements of Russian science. These include, for example, the results of the Russian school of probabilistic-combinatorial methods of discrete mathematics.
These and other results are in demand by the scientific community and educational structures. They not only made it possible to increase the scientific validity of cryptographic research, but also significantly developed discrete mathematics.
Studies of various types of random combinatorial configurations on algebraic structures
Studies of statistical properties of random and pseudorandom sequences
Studies of properties and structural characteristics of Boolean functions, their statistical analogues
Research of mathematical methods for solving time-consuming cryptography problems
The main research results of the Academy of Cryptography are used to solve the most urgent scientific and technical problems of ensuring information security of the Russian Federation. The contribution of the Academy of Cryptography to the development and justification of cryptographic solutions for a number of domestic standards, including for the electronic digital signature scheme standard, is significant. The Academy of Cryptography actively participates in the work of the Scientific Council under the Security Council of the Russian Federation, with its scientific and methodological guidance, the "Main directions of scientific research in the field of information security of the Russian Federation" were developed.
The scientific and publishing activities of the Academy of Cryptography are aimed at preserving and developing the potential of domestic cryptographic science. It allows us to consolidate the priority of domestic cryptographers, attract a wide range of scientists to research on cryptography problems. The results of research on mathematical issues of cryptography were published in the collection "Works on Discrete Mathematics" published until 2010 jointly with the Russian Academy of Sciences, and since 2010 have been published in the journal "Mathematical Issues of Cryptography", published jointly with the Steklov Mathematical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The modern period of development of domestic cryptographic science is characterized by the process of further expansion and complication of the Academy's research issues, which requires deep and comprehensive study in order to create methods for reliable cryptographic and information security of the Russian Federation.
New complex tasks in the field of information security have been set for the Academy of Cryptography by the Federal projects "Information Security" and "Artificial Intelligence" included in the national program "Digital Economy".
Providing cryptographic protection of information in the conditions of the possible appearance and application of efficient quantum computers
Ensuring cryptographic and information security of new information technologies, methods and means of artificial intelligence
Development of standardized solutions in the field of cryptography that meet the requirements of ensuring national security and the Digital economy of the Russian Federation
